La reconstruction du pont de Riceburg est
en cours.
Un aperçu de ce qui nous attend pour notre propre village
STANBRIDGE EAST, 2009/09/01. La reconstruction du vieux pont à structure de
métal de Riceburg, à mi-chemin entre Bedford et Stanbridge East
est en cours de remplacement, après plusieurs années de fermeture
au trafic.
Ces photos ont été prises la
semaine dernière et montrent la préparation de la structure pour
couler le béton des piliers.
Il est intéressant de noter la
longueur du jambage, parce qu’il traverse la rivière aux Brochets,
en comparaison de celle, très courte, du pont de Frelighsburg dont le
remplacement interviendra d’ici deux semaines seulement.
Il est intéressant aussi de
remarquer, pour les résidents de Frelighsburg, la taille de la zone des
travaux du pont de Riceburg, qui implique non seulement l’excavation et
la construction, mais aussi une multitude d’espaces utilisés pour
le stockage et l’accès.
Le site du pont de Frelighsburg sera
beaucoup plus difficile d’accès, étant entouré
d’immeubles, certains d’entre eux à l’intérieur
des 500 pieds de diamètre de la zone de protection patrimoniale autour
du moulin de Frelighsburg.

STANBRIDGE EAST, 2009/09/01.
The old metal truss bridge at Riceburg, halfway between Bedford and Stanbridge East, is in the
process of being replaced after several years of being closed to traffic.
These photos were taken last week and show the formwork being prepared for the concrete piers.
It is interesting to note how long the Riceburg span will be as it crosses the Pike River, in contrast to
the very short span of the Frelighsburg bridge which is due for replacement in just
two weeks from now.
Also of interest to Frelighsburg residents is the size of the extended Riceburg work site, which involves not just the
excavations and constructions, but also a variety of storage and access areas.
The Frelighsburg bridge site
will be much more difficult to access since it is closely surrounded by buildings, some of them within the 500-foot radius
of the historic protection zone around the old Frelighsburg mill.
